Troubleshooting
Network/Internet Access Issues
For the wired connection, the most common problems are:
- Do the LEDs on the RJ45 socket indicate traffic by blinking? If not, the cable may be flawed, or the problem may be further down the line
- Is there a DHCP service running on the LAN?
- Is there a MAC filtering or other traffic filtering present on the LAN?
- Is there a firewall on the route (gateway, provider) blocking a VPN traffic?
- Is there a RADIUS authentication service on the LAN? (corporate networks)
For Wi-Fi connections, these are the most probable causes of issues (along with those mentioned above):
- Is the Wi-Fi password typed in correctly?
- Is the signal strong enough? (AP may be visible, but connection is too unstable due to distance/interference)
- The GSM modem may cause interference if not plugged in the right USB and throught the extension cable
Finally, GSM disconnects can be caused by several distinctive causes:
- Check the status of the modem first, see Status LED Colors and States section of this manual for help
- Check the APN, ID, password, Authentication and Comprimation settings for your SIM with your provider and set the right values using the Advanced Settings tab. You may need to restart the Lumitrix indoor for the changes to take effect
- Is the PIN on the SIM disabled?
Power Outage Induced Errors
Please, keep in mind, that Lumitrix indoor is essentially a media server - meaning, a computer like any other, with operating system and complex boot sequence, and that this may break, if several restarts or shutdowns are induced during boot or shutdown. There are several safeguards in place that will try to prevent or remedy the potential damage caused by untimely restart, however, in rare cases, a factory reset or even maintenace by a Lumitrix personnel may be necessary. If you know your power grid to be unstable, consider using an UPS to protect your device.
Factory Reset
To initiate a factory reset procedure, start your device by holding a power button longer than 60 seconds. It will wait 15 seconds, thes start in a one time direct Wi-Fi mode, indicated by turquois LED color. Do not release the power button for another 60 or so seconds, until the LED turns red. Then leave the device alone, until the LED stops being red. You now have a booted device in a factory settings.
